Todd Events Team Party 2010

Even the best employee-boss relationships can get trying at times.  To put a fun twist on this concept, the Todd Events team created a game for their employee party by creating a wall of balloons with Todd Fiscus’ smiling face and handing the staff darts to pop the balloons and win prizes.  “Does Todd know about this?!” I overheard one team member ask.  “Yes, it was his idea!” came the reply.

There’s a reason Todd Events is top of mind in the design and event industry when it comes to creativity.  In my opinion, anything Todd Fiscus touches turns to gold.  Check out some other pictures from the evening and enjoy the video!Todd Events property

Making the Reception Personal with Twists on Tradition

PicFlips was thrilled to be a part of the Wedding Week stories in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram!  We were featured in the Life & Arts section about Making the Reception Personal with Twists on Tradition.  Alyson Ward was the reporter, and not only did she do her research to get some FANTASTIC ideas, but she has such a gift with words, it was a very enjoyable read.

Check out the Fort Worth Star Telegram article on PicFlips Flipbooks here.  These are the photos they ran with the article:

Help! We’ve got a crowd coming!

The PicFlips mobile flipbook studio is a fun way to entertain your guests at an event with a quick, custom-made party favor.  We average 45-50 flipbooks per hour, which is great for most weddings, Bar and Bat Mitzvahs, sorority parties and milestone birthdays.  But what do you do if you have a large crowd and need more books per hour?

Before we offer our solutions, think about the overall goal of your party and what you want to accomplish:

1.)  What is the size of your venue?  Do you want your guests to mix, mingle and move around the large area, or do you have a limited area to work with?

2.)  What time frame will you have for the flipbooks?  Is there a specific schedule of events (example: cocktail hour, dinner, and an auction for a non-profit fundraiser) or is it a relaxed schedule (example: socialize, eat & drink, mix & mingle at a 25th Anniversary Party)?

3.)  How many guests are you expecting?

4.)  Will this be an event with the majority of guests as families or couples, or do you expect to have a lot of guests from different households? (What an odd question, right?  The reason we ask this is that most of the time, couples just ask for one book, while friends all want their own book to take home.)

Now that you have a clear goal, let’s talk about options:

Option #1: We run 8 mobile flipbook studios here in the Dallas area.  If you need multiple studios for your large party, we can usually accommodate.  Multiply the number of studios by our hourly rate and *viola!* you have your price. (Call or email for pricing – sorry, we don’t list this online.)  Each studio takes up a 10′x10′ area.

Option #2: Our regular “standard” studio produces 45-50 flipbooks per hour on average.  However, we also have “deluxe” studios available, which include an extra staff and additional equipment to produce 90-100 flipbooks per hour.  This option is less expensive that 2 “standard” studios because we have to bring less equipment and hire less staff, so we pass the savings on to you.  It also remains inside the original 10′x10′ area.

If you want to discuss your specific event, I would be happy to talk through ideas and suggestions with you.  Give me a ring at (214) 497-2411 or send me an email at amy@iloveflipbooks.com.

Happy Planning!

Celebrating 2010 at PicFlips!

To celebrate the new decade, we’ve decided to narrow down the Top 10 reasons why we love what we do…*ahem*….

10.) We’ve met a whole new group of friends in the event industry. Talk about a fun group of people to hang out with! Their parties ROCK!!

9.) What started out as a fun idea in our friend’s creative mind blossomed into a concept seen all over the world.

8.) At PicFlips, we include custom designed and professionally printed flipbook covers at no extra cost. Personally, I (Amy) have always been the creative, free-spirit, so it thrills me to no end to capture the atmosphere and color palette of the event on a flipbook cover. PicFlips flipbook covers can be customized to fit any party or event – the perfect keepsake for partygoers to take home!

7.) We get paid to go to parties and create memories for the guests…that’s my definition of a dream job!

6.) People of all ages love the flipbooks! Children, teens, college kids, adults, grandparents…it’s a product that spans the generations.

5.) The flip book party favor is so universal that it fits in with almost any party – we’ve done birthday parties for a 1 year old to a 70 year old; a baby shower for triplets and a debutante ball for 5; a tour with Bloomingdale’s across the northeast and the launch of Guitar Hero; parties with budgets of a couple thousand dollars to $100,000+; non-profit galas to help fight hunger, cancer, abuse, childhood disease; celebrations of so many kinds!

4.) Ahhh, the nostalgia of flip books…but with the twist of technology. It’s a beautiful thing.

3.) We’ve learned concepts while running this business that they DON’T teach you in college. Some things you just have to experience yourself. If there was a Doctorate in making flipbooks, we would be the professors. It’s a joy to teach other companies around the world what we have learned through years of trial and error.

2.) The PicFlips patent-pending process is so QUICK! Less than 90 seconds per book from start-to-finish right there at the party – made while the guests watch. They love it!

1.) Even after almost 4 years of making flipbooks at events, we never tire of watching guests experience the flipbooks for the first time. You should see their faces light up when they flip through their books for the first time with their photos inside. It’s the same innocent wonder as a kid opening a Christmas present….yeah, it’s that good.

Here’s to another great year in 2010!

Characteristics of a PicFlips Bride

When I think back to the variety of brides we’ve worked with, I’ve come to the conclusion that no matter the size of the guest list, the budget, or the age of the betrothed, our brides have 4 main characteristics in common:

#4 -  “Looking for something unique” Many of our brides see the photo booths at the bridal shows, but tell me that they chose the flipbooks because most of their guests have never experienced the flipbook studio before.  It’s a fun way to stand out from every other wedding they have been to (which can start to blend together)!

#3 -  “It’s all in the details” Brides nowadays are adding finishing touches to their wedding by continuing a design element throughout the whole wedding.  This could be a monogram, a pattern or a certain blend of colors.  It can range anywhere from monogrammed hand towels in the restroom to dramatic lighting and a gobo of the couple’s names across the dance floor.  The key is personalization and tying the elements together during the evening.  Custom designed and professionally printed flipbook covers are a simple way to personalize the wedding and give guests a keepsake to take home.

#2 -  “Keeps the guests entertained” Not everyone is gonna shake their groove thang on the dance floor all night.  The idea is to get the guests moving around the room – set up a candy bar with little bags for guests to take home treats, a flipbook studio so guests have a custom keepsake to remember the night and, if there are going to be quite a few little ones in attendance, set up an area where they can decorate their own miniature wedding cake.

#1 -  “Brides and grooms just wanna have FUN!” This is the #1 factor that all of our brides and grooms have in common – they want to have a blast at their wedding reception!   They know that the crowd of people they are inviting are going to want to party and celebrate with them.  It won’t take long for Aunt Marge and Uncle Frank to throw on a feather boa, hold up the ‘I Love You’ sign and give each other a big smooch for the camera.  And in under 90 seconds, they know Aunt Marge will be making the rounds showing off her flipbook and recruiting fellow participants.  They also know that the fun and buzz created at the party will continue long after the night ends as Aunt Marge slips the flipbook in her purse to take to work on Monday.  “You should have been to my niece’s wedding this weekend…What a BLAST!…”
