In an age where film, digital animation, and special effects have reached incredible heights, it’s certainly interesting to look back at some of the first examples of moving pictures. One of these, the flipbook, helped to pave the way for modern animation and the idea of arranging pictures in sequence frame-by-frame. Eventually, machines would be used to advance these frames at a consistent high speed, but the flipbook would remain a fun and interactive novelty for years to come. We’ll also show how flipbooks have advanced from crudely bound images to commemorative party favors that can be professionally produced within mere minutes, all in a photobooth!
